Why cleanup matters after the rodents are gone
Getting rid of the rodents is only part of the job. Droppings, urine and nesting material stay behind in attics, crawl spaces and wall voids, and they hold the scent trails that lead new rodents back to the same spots. A deep clean reduces the risk of a second infestation.
Droppings shouldn’t be swept or vacuumed dry. The CDC advises against it because it puts dust and particles into the air. Cleanup should be done wet, with disinfectant and protective gear, and insulation that rodents have nested in is usually better removed than cleaned.
Rodents also chew. Insulation gets flattened and torn into nests, ducts get holes in them, and walls get damaged around entry points. We repair that damage with construction-grade materials, and haul away the clutter that gives rodents cover in garages, basements and crawl spaces.

Should I clean up rat droppings myself?
A few droppings can be handled if you wet them first with disinfectant and wear gloves. Don’t sweep or vacuum them dry. Attics and crawl spaces with heavy droppings, nesting or soiled insulation call for protective gear and proper disposal.
Do you replace insulation?
Yes. Insulation that rodents have nested in or soiled is removed and replaced as part of our repair work, along with damaged ducts and walls.
Why does my house still smell after the rats are gone?
Usually from urine and droppings left in insulation or wall voids, or from a rodent that died out of reach. Cleaning out and replacing the contaminated material removes the source.
